Im having a hard time picking an anemone for my ocellaris clown. I looked up the frag but only the 3 most difficult anemone host these clowns. And if im not mistaken ocellaris is the most popular clownfish in trade. Any other suggestion?
Anything can really work...if you don't want an anem, it is quite possible to have them host a coral, or algae, or a pump, or an overflow box(don't ask). If you really want an anem, I would have to first ask you questions about the setup. Size? Lighting? Flow? BB or DSB? filtration? Amount of rock? Etc...anything to help aid the decision process.
BTA's are usually considered the most accepting(most clowns can host it even if not natural symbiont), the hardiest, the least requiring, fairly common(not gonna cost an arm and a leg), and great choice for beginning anem keepers.
Size: is 45gal
Lighting is 250watt metal halide
Flow is 2x Rio900 powerhead (getting 1 maxijet soon)
DSB 2inches
Filter Remora MJ1200 (no filter just skimmer)
Rock: 60lbs
Is BTA: buttle Tip anemone? Any type color is fine? I have 2 clown 1 is 1 inch and the other is 3inches how big should the anemone be?
First off welcome to RC. Secondly you kind of hi-jacked chkra's thread unless of coarse you just created another name. In your profile it says your hobby experience is 1 month of a reef tank? Your tank is definately way too young to even attempt to have any type of anemone yet. Give some things time to settle out and get stabalized before attempting to add a Nem to your tank. Your clowns are going to live just fine without one for a while.
