When putting a pair of clowns into a tank is it better to actually purchase a mated pair? or is it ok to just pick out 2 clownfish from the tank at the LFS? I dont really care about spawning, actually ide prefer they didnt since I only have room in my display tank and dont want a ton of newborn clowns roaming around.

Well first off, if your clowns spawn, you wont have little clowns unless you remove them from the tank and put in some effort. They aren't like mollies or guppies. Yes, you can get any two same species from the lfs, but you will have an easier time with them pairing if you get two that are different sizes - one large and one smaller.
