Picking up first frags tomorrow

Suggestions on what to do? I'm picking up a bunch of frags from the fella I bought my tank from last summer. Coral is brand new to me, so "installing" them is what I"m concerned with. What's the process? My LFS says to buy this $11 stuff and just sit them in 2 capfuls for about 3 minutes then I'm good to go.

As far as putting them on rocks - how do you do that? Glue them down immediately or just sit them for a day or two until I learn what light levels they like? 6' 125g tank with 3 of the Ebay Black Box lights..

Yes put them lower like on the sand for a few days. Then move them up. Eventually u will know which corals can go where but always start lower. You don't strictly need a coral dip, but not a bad idea. I at least inspect everything closely, pretty easy to see bubble algae and aiptasia.

me too. Picking mine up monday..excited! Would like input to put these on too? do i scrape them off the platform they are on or leave them on? if so, do i put glue on the bottom of the coral?

and what kinda glue...I here super glue? Super glue you can buy from the store, like crazy glue? what is the process of super gluing?

I dont think I want to use epoxy, unless I know for sure thats where I want it permanently, or would epoxy be better?

Hey guys! I'd put them on the bottom for a few days. After they settle in, start finding your hi and low flow areas. If you are getting to the point where you are going to be adding alot of new stuff get a QT. Visually inspection and dips are good but it's just a matter of time before something bad gets you. When attaching with super glue, get the gel. Good luck guys

I normally just put them right into a spot. Never put in sand first but certain corals do like certain par levels. So if you aren't sure of the corals needs its best to put in sand to wait Also to glue or not to glue is up to you. I used to glue everything but makes it a littler harder when adding a lot of new corals into the tank. Sometimes you have to move old corals. But depending on the frag plug, your rock layout , and things you have in your tank. Not gluing them can be a pain when they fall over once a week or more

I'll definitely be putting them in the sand bed to start. This is completely new to me so I'll have to experiment. I'm also waiting on two new Jebao SW-15 Powerheads to get some good flow in my tank. My current ones are crappy Amazon models - 3 of them.

you should clean and use a dip (revive is really good) and you should quarantine. Otherwise you are at risk of introducing something into the system.
