Picking up Picasso's

Are there any books on them? Any confirmed information floating around the internet.

I'd just learn more about them, the breeding process, how they get their "stripe", etc. Not how to feed them, etc. I already know that.


But a general history. When the first were bred commercially, by whom, etc. Historical info, not general info.


I'm picking up a pair of ORA Picasso's this morning from a local reef club member. Was going with Doni's, but these are hella cheaper than her's. I cannot pass it up.

Just looking for general historical info on these. How they got their name, who named them, etc.

I do not believe their are any books. Correct me if i am wrong but some guy at ORA got really cool misbared clowns from an LA wholesaler or something like that. And from their he marketed that specific trait we see today of Picasso. What we see today just seems to be the cause of some serious inbreeding to reproduce this trait. Now do we know if this is a 100% percula trait? many think perhaps some occelaris was crossed into these perculas to show rapid stripe development. Also the whole misbar craze has been a recent development as well many people originally sought after perfectly barred clowns hence marine ornamentals , therefore any strange barring lead to a cull and or no sales

They are just really cool Perculas.Yes the original spawn was from ORA.From a wild caught male with an Onyx female.Then the spawn was line bread from there.We are now seeing a few wild caughts here and there.The WC Picc. are very pricey.5 to 7 grand.

They are about 1 year old. According to the seller, he had them about 6 months, and he said that ORA puts them for sale when they are about 6 months old. I believe it.

These guys are about 2.5-2.75" it looks.
