So I moved my numbers of folksbuild thread to 3reef because of the numbers of large tank threads. I know some of the folks over there from years and reef's past.

also, Check out the Vinyl Graphics we put up in the room. My wife sells these thru Uppercase Living. If you like them, you can check out her website for these and many more things.

Its Vinyl stock on, so it is completely removable. this one is not re-usable but they have some you can peel and move around. that said, it looks painted on and only when you get up close can you tell it is vinyl. I have used them on my boat for the TN#.

dude just checked out your 3 reef thread, is that a spring type check valve that you installed or a flapper style? reason I ask is that I just took those spring type out of my nano set up as the metal in them I found out is the cheap stuff and will rust out and not work in a very short time and add metals to your water!

Supertech.. Dont tell me that... It is the spring type. I could not find the flapper type. Crud!!! guess ill have to cut it out and replace it before I get it filled with water. UGH, and that thing was expensive.

It s a 2" valve. I sure wish I would have thought of it before I got all the pipe together. now im going to have to get some more 2" pipe and extra couplings to replace the darn thing. where do you get the flapper valves?

Sorry for my brevity.

yes, it is 2" return lines to the tank. this is split to 1 1/2" at a T fitting then down to 1" thru the bulkheads (already installed). it is then split thru 4 outlets in a manifold at the top all 1".

the drains are 1 1/2" each and come together into a single 2" pipe then straight to the sump.

the closed loop is 1 1/2" from the drain to the pump then back to a T filling then reduced to 1" to go thru the bulkheads.

Here are the flow specs on the Reeflo Barracuda main line pump.

BARRACUDA

16' 1,810 237
19' 603 189

and the specs on the Dart closed loop system.

DART

4' 3,035 152
6' 2,428 155

10' 1,520 146
12' 630 125
Average Watts: 146

Hope that sheds a little light on the flow. I think ill have a good ammt of flow. I can always throttle the pumps back a little.

I plan on using the Mag 9.5 to drive the chiller, the Gex X PCX 40 to drive the skimmer, I have a Aquamed dosing pump for the Calc Reactor (along with teh Blueline recirc pump) and a small maxiJet to run the carbon canister and the UV filter. I think I have enough pumps.

I think the critter has one as well, I seem to remember seeing them there otherwise youll have to order one from a place like marine depot or savko. Looking at about 25 bucks just for the valve!

might get a good deal with the discount tonight!
sorry for the bad news, I also found out too late and wasted money, mine were only 3/4 thank god!

My last electric bill while running my big tank jumped from 170.00 month to over 300.00 the last month it was here. That included 1 Reeflo Dart 5 250W MH BB5000 skimmer pump and 4x80W T5HO and asst other pieces of equipment.
Seems they have raised the rates on usage above a certain level the cost is way higher than it used to be. The guy who bought my tank has a 240 that all my old equipment is on and his bill was over 500.00 last month. FYI
