well it has been quite some time since an update...here are a couple fuzzy pics and a short video...let me know what you think now...

Awesome idea, and great looking tank!!

Care to explain what happened during your "mini" crash? Curious, that's all. :)
 
Wow... this is interesting. I think you just gave me an idea. haha. Can you describe the details of your tank? Dimension, gallons, how much rock, equipment, lighting, etc?

well it started by my 2 part epoxied rocks completely falling apart, i spent a lot of time build a really intricate shape, used a tonne of epoxy and for some reason it completely disintegrated...i am pretty sure i accidentally overdosed kalk that day too. theni had to rebuild the rocks, but couldnt be bothered, so i just stacked them all in the back of the tank...while rearranging the rock i had to put everything in buckets...well of course dosent my kid start going crazy, so i had to tend to her...3 hours or so later i got back to my tank, everything still in buckets no heat no powerheads (as i was only expecting 10 minutes of work) needless to say everything had slimed up super bad...woke up in the morning to both favia dead, both chalices dead, frogspwn dead, hammer dead, blue xenia just a pile of jelly in the bottom of the tank...scooped out all the dead, started a batch of SW and went to work...got home changed the water, and prayed everything else would pull through...fish made it shrimp made it, and rest of the softies made it...i have decided to just keep it softies for now..

here is the ORIGINAL BUILD THREAD
display is a 5gal vase 12" diameter 14" tall (exact same size as a pail of instant ocean salt...) sump is a 12x12 cube...rock = about 6-7pounds all rubbleish sized pieces, lights are 7 3W LED's 4 royalblue 3 cw. return is a MJ900, and flow is a old school koralia1, heat is a 50W ehiem. no skimmer. i top off about 2-300ml a day fresh RO/DI and 50ml kalk solution...
parameters are :

Salinity 35ppt
temp 26.3C
ammonia = 0
nitrite = 0
nitrate < 10
pH = 8.1
ALK = 9
calcium = no idea never tested it
magnesium= no idea
 
well here is a 2min video showing how things are going in my tank lately...all is pretty well i would say...loving my little slice of the ocean..

this is all i have right now...i am just finishing up my 30W cree upgrade fixture...
going from 18W of crappy luxeons...cant hardly wait...just waiting for paint to dry...but here is the current FTS...

i am pretty sure everything is going to get sunburnt via the new fixture...i did use dimmable drivers though so i should be able to acclimate everything easily.

i will have a new pic tonight...the new CREE's are mind blowing for colour and intensity compared to the luxeons i had in there...well there is 5 extra crees too...LOL, but big difference for colour and brightness..
