Pics of 250's most unusual/rare SPS

Well I can honestly say this is my most unusual (dare I say rare) SPS in my collection. Known locally as the "Firefighter Fuscia" this coral has a fuscia/pink base, blue tips and white polyps. The original colony is known to exist by the person who originally got the colony going back to 2001/2002 if I recall correctly (actually as a brown freebie for helping unpack - my how times have changed!). In all my years of collecting I have never seen a colony come in like this, I was fortunate to trade for a frag a couple years back.

While the color is unique, it is the thin branching structure that makes coral stand out even more. I have seen thin branching corals come in that are purple and sometimes yellowish blue (which I bought at the LFS), but never like this. I really need to get it into the grow-out tank for a better picture of it. But here it is in the meantime.

Thanks everyone. I am pretty proud of it, grown from a 1" frag over 2 years and now I have 2 small colonies (one back-up of course!). FYI I have not traded or sold a frag of it to date.

Emaster - your PM must be very light in color, mine is a dark purple...as illustrated below.

That is nice. The color reminds me of my purple monster.

Good eye. I sniped a small frag of this coral from the LFS before is was re-exported to the USA. Not sure the species of monti, but the peachy-pink coloration, odd texture and plating/tabling growth form please me.

The purple one is pretty cool, but what is the orange monti next to it called? :)

You really know how to work with that camera. And your tank has always been my favorite tank.
And also Nice work on the Man Cave.

BTW: All you need now is a taper to finish your Basement. LOL

Thanks - I have many 1000's of pictures under my belt. Next time you are over I will show you how I do it, after all my camera is only worth maybe $100 now, just a ultra-zoom point and shoot.

And ya I have a call into a taper in today.............but that then means painting and finish carpentry (Dave needs a litle break!)

Very Nice Corals!!

sharing pictures can be rewarding at times, just takes a little practice behind the camera

I could look at pictures from your tank all day long...Very beautiful.

Well honestly I never test for PO4 or nitrate. I do not add very much prepared food to the tank (mysis/brine ect), primarily flake food and cyclopeze from time to time. Other than that, well an 8 stage RO/DI unit keeps the water going in clean.

No GFO or bacteria dosing. The nly thing I add is Mg from time to time to keep levels in the 1300-1400 level. Other than that it is all the calcium reactor, no other supplements.

250g, how do you keep your PO4 and Nitrates low? Do you run GFO? Any bacteria dosing?

Nice. Growth is one thing I have not been able to achieve with my PM, think I have had it for 3 years plus maybe.....still small. Just the species perhaps.
