Pics of my 400...

Not so much the thread but the pictures of your tank is what has always drawn me to this thread or should I say your tank..lol..I love how "natural" your tank looks and how "open" everything is.
Yeah, if you could get pictures of you on top of your tank on a board, that would be very interesting and yes it makes perfect sense. Probably something that could only be accomplished with an acylic tank, as I don't think I would feel comfortable doing that with a glass tank as I plan to get. thanks for the quick response.

That's a beautiful 2 sided FTS pic! I love that view of my tank as well. although, it's not nearly as impressive as yours.

The sand was just sand that was provided by Tampa Bay Saltwater. I believe it is the sand that is naturally in the aquaculture area in the gulf. There are a wide variety of sizes and materials.

A few updated photos. Fish are getting large.

I suppose it depends on the definition of "reef safe". He doesn't eat or bother inverts, but he will certainly eat smaller fish. I believe that he polished off 6 coral gobies. I only witnessed his attempts at eating them, but they disappeared in less than a week, so my assumption is that he got them. I had hoped they would hide in the coral branches, but I think they were tank raised and had very poor survival skills.

I've had him almost 1 year and he has grown consideraby. I would say he is maybe 5"x 5" x 1/2"!

Wow Beautiful tank and fish! I always wanted to see your tank upclose due to always seeing your little avatar.

Stunning pictures & tank  I see you have one of those minature Vlamingiis in your tank too....

The long spined urchin wasn't a problem until it reached a certain size. At that point, it began to carve up the acrylic pretty good. My experience is that I do NOT recommend this type of urchin in an acrylic tank.

Since the urchin grazes on coraline, it never really travelled across the viewing areas of the tank. I'm able to polish out any scratches that are objectionable. I've since sold off that particular urchin.

Here's an updated tank shot. This past year I had a lot of SPS die off, but that has been resolved and the tank is recovering now. Meanwhile, the fish are just getting larger and larger...
