pics of my BTA IS IT DEAD OR DYING!?!! ANYONE?1!

No need to get all judgemental on the guy. Come on guys. What we are probably trying to tell you is that if you do the research, and listen to the advice of your hobbyists around you; you will probably save yourself tons of cash spent on the hobby and have a chance to give your livestock a good home. These losses are inevitable for newbies, especially when you are dealing with sensitive subjects such as marine livestock. Good luck on the next purchase you make and hope it does well.

Yeah. Do your research ahead of time. This is my first tank, let alone a reef tank, and I've asked questions and researched about things months, even years, in advance. Just take your time and make wise decisions using the knowledge you know. Also, NEVER EVER EVER make assumptions. These people on RC very friendly and knowledgeable, so feel free to ask questions.

Page 2 man, it's not the time to pull out the Ohhhhhhhhhh Yeahhhhhhhhh! yet!

Like for me, I recently acquired a GBTA and decided to reaquascape to accomodate its presence. The reaquascaping procedure resulted in a loss of my skunk cleaner and a diamond goby I had ever since I started this hobby. I still make stupid mistakes but we learn to move along. :)

..... yeah losing fish sucks.... but i dont think all people on RC are as friendly as you think!!! lol ... most are :) but yeah i definatly didnt realize how important it is to do your research before buying things from the pet store just because their cute.. that advice RC gave me has saved me undoubtedly hundreds of dollars!

just dont get discouraged. losing fish, unfortunate as it is, comes with the territory. RC is one of, if not the best source for salt water aquarium info, and for the most part everyone is willing to help you.

good luck to you.

this is where the addiction begins

Actually there was a jewish girl on my swim team last year, and she was not very nice at all. I didn't like her one bit...so not every jewish girl is loved by all!

Hey, just picked back up on this thread, and you probably don't want to hear this, but I also apologize for the judgemetnal attitude I displayed in the other threads.

Just realize that we are as passionate about the hobby as you are and sometimes it ends up on these threads. I understand your intentions were not to have livestock die, nobody wants that. We do get frustrated and I honestly think it accumulates on a thread from time to time. Again, sorry for the hostile words and bad attitude. Don't let me be the one that makes you think twice about posting other questions.

Not sure if you still have your BTA but you should have just left it in your tank it's totally normal BTA's to deflate when expelling wast, too bad you moved it.

hey, im 14 and have been doing this for a pretty long time i am just going to ask as many questions to your local fish store as you can(LFS) i volunteer at mine and have been doing so for over 3 years so right when you think you know all there is to know for what your keeping somone with the same fish/coral as you will ask you a question and i will not know the answer but all im trying to say is that you will never learn to much about this stuff and you dont want to have a bad reputation on RC for as long as you choose to join us its good to have another teen around good luck if you dont want to post because people are frustrating you or whatever just pm me and i will try to answer it!

hope this helps

HAHA! lol... swim team?? how old are you?

I'm 19, I swim for the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. Apparently being a swimmer implies that I'm young and/or immature. Apparently it's also pretty amusing. I appreciate your immediate judgment. ;)
