I have been a regular visitor to this forum for a few years now but have never posted much. This tank has been set up since January of 2013 and originally used a dual bulb t5 fixture. I recently upgraded to a 4 bulb fixture. No skimmer, no sump, just a hob filter for extra flow with carbon and 5g water change every 2 weeks. It has about 30lbs of live rock. I dose ca, mg, and alk which I monitor every week.

Live stock includes:
pair of tr occelaris clowns
bi color blenny
cleaner shrimp
porcelain crab
snail and crab cuc

corals:
bta
green, purple, and gray mushrooms
palys and zoos multiple variants
gsp
small candy cane
xenia
Kenya tree

Your tank looks great! Love what you did with the scaping. I know the 29 is hard to scape and you pulled it off.

this tank looks amazing. soooo many times you see tanks just thrown together talking about "why is this happening" or "what should i do" or "how do i get rid of this algae" using basic filtration like you do. however. you have a much much better handle on your system using only a power filter. tanks looks great. all newbies that set up tanks with minimal equipment should start with this thread and aim to have their tank looks like yours....

Very nice! A 29 is a pain to aquascape, but that looks great! Extra cudos for such a healthy tank with low tech.

Really nice! I find it interesting that you need to dose, despite regular water changes and no stony corals.

Here are some updated pics 6 months later. The tank has been set up for almost 2 years. I added a few new zoas, toadstool mushroom, couple of rock flower nems, hammer colony, yellow button polyps, couple of feather dusters and a small acan. Also changed light fixtures after the other one quit working.
