Finally, my camera bites and I have to export all the pictures to make them smaller to fit on this site. But anyways, I've posted some pics of my tank bottom before and after my bb switch this last weekend. I explained on another earlier thread my process, here the link if you haven't seen it yet. So enjoy the pics!

These last pics I think were taken several days after the switover. I am so proud at how clean it's staying. Looks just the same to this day. I have other pics that I'll post in a reply to this. Look forward to any questions or comments. Thanks, Sean.

Not too long after I was finshed the buildup started and left little piles that are easily siphoned out for now, until I hook up the tunzes next week sometime!

Sean.

living tropicals, did you put the seio on the bottom? thats the way exactly i do it too. it makes more circulation in the tank. its working well for me.

Yep. I have six of them (all 820's) down there and set to the back bottom of the tank with one each pointing left, right middle (middle ones overlap each other). It seems to be working well for me too. One drawback is the 4-5" of cords at the top that I cannot hid and that I needed to order more flow since I used everything I had at the bottom now!

do you have any full tank pics?

Yes, I will take and post some later today. The pics will be less one acro as it started RTN'ing yesterday and is going quickly. This one had a little STN starting and I think the switchover was too much for it. My other acros are still good. I'll try to get some pics of those too!

I just dont understand why anyone wants to make their tank a BB...

sand is just soooo much nicer to the eye...

Yes BB is cleaner, yes it allows for strong circulation...

yes Sand CAN be dirty, and doesnt allow for such forcefull circulation...

but it just looks soooo much nicer...

geeze... WELL!

After all... beauty is in the eyes of the beholder...

AND BEHOLD..... thats not my idea of beauty but could be someone elses!

Good luck to you and yours!!!

Hope it turns out what your looking for!

Looks like it is working well for you, I like the Cyano-free look :D I would also like to see a FTS. I think you will really like keeping a BB tank once you get it down, I feel that removing the sand was the best thing I ever did for my system  .

Shawn, why do you have to post just to bash people? We don't jump in your threads and tell you we don't like your sand.

I will keep an eye open for the FTS,
Whiskey

Shawnts106 - You know I too thought I'd never like it without sand but now it's a whole different story. To each there own! I hope the best for you too!

Wiskey - Yeah, so far so good. In my last post I said the rocks were flat but as you can see the view goes all the way to the back! I'm very happy with my decision at this point and not looking back!! I like the look very much and this coming from a "I could never do without sand" reefer. Full shots coming later today. I'll include some skimmer shots too! Thanks for your comments, I appreciate the remarks. Sean.

Ya it looks like you have plenty of room underneeth your rocks to push deatris out which is good, when you said that the flat sides are on the acrilic I was invisioning something like squished gum on sidewalk.

Out of curiosity, did you get a bunch of junk out of your sand? Did it stink?

I had a tun of deatris built up, but mine did not stink like some people report.

Sand is for the beach and it aint so great there eithier. Lets see Scratched glass, constant crap buildup til its a bacterial death trap waiting to be released like a subterainian nuclear bomb. So you say you clean once a year yea I did that what a great thing to do. Nothing like unearthing the most vile and god awefull stench from satans bowels unto yourself not to mention the work involved. Oh I like the multi-colored algae thats viewable thru the layers of sand thats a real nice addition to the aquascape. What exactly was the positives of sand again? This cats tripp'n on the BB good luck with the grit it broke my back for years.

Most of us dont get that with our sand. You must have not been taking care of the tank.

OP, how long has the tank been BB?

Wiskey - That's why I wanted to get these pics up so you could see how it was. Good to know you think it's okay. My sandbed was only 1.75 years old and though it did not stick at all it was very dirty (a lot of suprising buildup that I didn't think was there). Even though I never had any algae problems in my tank the sand slime started and never died off no matter what I did, and I did everything I could. Not no more, I'm in control now!

FSOL - That's what makes the world go around. Different strokes for different folks, right!

RichConley - The tank has been BB for almost a full week now and counting.
