the clam is gone and back in it's original nutrient poor, unfed, bare bottom, SPS tank-but the owner swears that it is bigger and much brighter since being in my tank??? I love pollen!
The mangroves might be spread out about the tank. The ones I was looking at were not too tall. My new stand is 40 inches tall and the sump is only 20 something tall, so after they grow there is still plenty of room in the new sump.
thanks

The new tank is a little bit different in the zoo species and the filtration.
I had many Solomon Island zoos that were in a 24 aquapod in the basement without a skimmer and under 150 de mh. The whole reason for this setup was to try and keep the color on the Solomon zoas and keep them healthy.
Over the course of a year I found that the Solomon zoanthids fared much better is more "dirty" water, than in my up stairs system that was heavy skimmed and fed very well, but skimmed. I also fed the nano well, but not as well and skimming was nill.
My new set up has all of the bright Solomon and is not as "green" as the last set up. That big a$$ clam can play a lot of visual mind games when looking at the tank!
So with that in mind I set up the new sump so as any water going through the return pump will have to go through about 4 inches of polyfilter. I buy the 4 in solid chair batting from the fabric store for about $2 per yard. I replace about once a week 4in wide x12in long x2
I turn the pumps off for 3-4 hours and feed the tank-then start everything back up
I have not had an algae outbreak and I have been feeding every day for the past month and not running a skimmer????
I know it sounds crazy but the color is great and everything is all in check.
I should have pics this weekend or next of the new setup. It is a lot more colorful/bright and more full than what was in these pics.
I can tell you that any pink zoo/paly loves to be DIRECTLY under 400 w VS off to the side. My pinks, reds, and teals have gone crazy since being placed directly under the bulb.
