The fish has been in my tank for about 2 weeks. He looks skinny and the brown discoloration has been there a few days. At first I thought he was just scratched on the rocks but they are worse now. The fish is hiding more too. Does seem to be eating but not great.

The fish looked to be a perfectly healthy specimen when I purchased him.

I've had good luck with soaking food in Selcon and Kent Garlic Extreme when my tangs don't look good. This includes nori, frozen mysis shrimp, and a mix of Ocean Nutrition's pellets/flakes.

Is your Powder Blue still alive? Those marks on his side really look like bite marks; probably from another tang. I have a kole that leaves bite marks exactly like that.
He needs to eat to get his strength up so he can fend for himself.

The PBT died a day after the thread. I spend a lot of time watching the tanks in the evening and never saw aggression from the Purple Tang and the tank is 8ftx30x30. If anything, it could have been a clownfish that is aggressive but not sure. This was a really bad experience. The fish had been in the store eating for over a week and looked to be a perfect specimen at the time. Perhaps I should have started a QT tank to make sure there was no harrassment. I plan on using my 40 breeder for QTing future additions to the system but doubt I will get another PBT.
