I would check out the photography forum on RC here. It has a wealth of information on how to take nice shots of the livestock.

I am not aware of the features of your camera, so let me give you a couple basic pointers. My first guess though would be that you either are using AutoFocus that is picking up the glass/particles in the water, etc. - try using manual focus. Another area to look for is reducing your exposure time by increasing your shutter speed because the fish are not ideal subjects and tend to move a lot.

thanks for the pointers guys
the only thing about the photo threads is that is hard to pinpoint thisa about coolpix cams i'll look for the cam manual and see what i can do...

My photographer girlfriend is suggesting "action" or "shutter priority mode" which will allow you to choose your shutter speed and if your camera has the ability to tailor the speed you are looking for around 1/80th second shutter speed.

Speaking of shutter speed(which I agree with btw) OT as to subject but kinda not since these were done with increased shutter speeds. Still learning myslef, but went to the zoo last weekend and practiced :)Heres a couple, got a lil choppy as I was reducing from 6mg. This is of some flamingo's bathing, the shutter speed helped me capture them while they were bobbing there heads back and forth bathing in the water and made for some really cool water beading action too.

Thank you! :)
For being as green as can be, Im pretty happy with how it turned out, you wouldn't even guess the photo was at least 50-60 feet away either ;)
