Here are some pics from the photoshoot I did today. Some are top down in an acrylic box I made similar to the one Melev shows on his site. All pics are under a 150W 20K MH light and I was using a Nikon Coolpix 4300. White balance was set to white starboard. Hope you enjoy!
Thanks Guys. I am just using a NIkon Coolpix 4300 that is about 4 years old. I am using most of the manual settings though in order to try and get the colors true to what they normally look like. The 20K bulb makes the colors pop.
On top down pic do u shut off all of your pumps and powerheads? im guessing so since i have tried it with all of them on and all i get is ripples and blur. Any tips you can give on doing top down shots?
I have a 20K 150W metal halide with no other lighting supplement on my 29 gallon. The pictures will turn out a little blue if you don't adjust the white balance on the camera to compensate. I guess viewing under 20K is a matter of personal preference. For the top down shots I didn't turn off my return, I just used an acrylic box the you can put in the water with the camera in it. Melev has some directions on how to make one for yourself on his site. No tripod but i do try and brace my camera against something or it will always turn out fuzzy.
