Pictures of Bomber's barebottom SPS tank and related equipment

It's a mixture of 4 different kinds of macros, including grape. The others I haven't bothered to ID.
One of them has long flat blades,
one is very thick and thread like, dark green that grows like speghetti
and I forget what the 4th one looks like.

I have a skimmer and the skimmers stand in the refugium. I allow the macros to grow all over the outside of the skimmer and the tank walls.

Ok, I have to preface this with a statement that conveys that these photos just don't do this tank justice. It looks so much better than the photos show. :(

Here's Bomber's overall tank as of last weekend:

Jerel...

If you don't start scraping that coralline off the starboard it is gonna turn completely purple in another couple of months.;)

Then guys will be asking you "Hey where did you get that purple starboard from?"

Lookin good:thumbsup:

And great pics Greg.

Very nice! Thanks for the pics Greg. I got worried that I didn't see Doug in there at first. My second time throught the pics I noticed that you can see the trails he made eating coralline on the starboard.

How did you make the background black? IMO the best looking parts of the tank are the parts reflected in the 45-degree views. Maby tank pics would look more true-to-life if taken in a mirror?

Thanks for sharing the pics, Greg. It's really nice to have all this documented.

The tank is looking great, B!

Didn't do anything fancy, just waited until dark and turned off the room lights. In fact, in the first picture you can see a little light coming through the blinds on the other side of the tank.

Very nice!Is Bomber's tank Starfire or regular glass?
Also, what is the fish in the first pic?He is beautiful. Was he collected locally?

Barry, look at the very first picture. Doug is in the bottom far left corner. ;) If he would leave the Starboard alone, it would stay covered.

Rothie, it's regular glass. I can't tell the difference when the lights are on. That fish is a Saddled Blenny, the next picture is the female.

Thanks guys! :D

and thank you Greg for taking these. :)

Hehe. Here's a picture of one I took on a reef three miles from this tank on the very same day. :D

Did you see all Doug's trails in it? LOL

I am just about convinced to do a BB on my new tank. Does anyone know if the starboard is made in anyother color, like black or grey?

Try one of the online cutting board companies. I am using light blue in one of my tanks. It's not as bad as it sounds. Under 10K MH it looks buish white. Actually, it is mostly purple with all the coralline on it.
