Pictures of my Carpets

Just wanted to post some pictures of my S. Haddoni and S. Gigantea. The S. Gigantea is new to the tank and I hope it makes it. Here are some pictures. BTW, my female Clarkii is in heaven. Goes from one anemone to the other.

They look nice. :)

Thanks.

Everyday, I am thankful that my S. Gigantea is alive. What scares me is I am leaving tomorrow for Miami for 6 days and then too Tampa one day. There will be no "experienced" supervision of my tank. Just a person that comes by and feeds the fish. Talk about being nervous. Getting my Gigantea 4 days ago was horrible timing. :rolleye1:

Hopefully when I come back, my tank water will not smell like rotten eggs and look like cloudy lake water if you know what I mean.

Good luck on the trip away. I know how you feel, I'm currently away from my tanks for a while, and am just trying not to think of them, assuming that they'll be fine.

Everything looks great. Makes me want to buy a 55g tank now. Also, it looks like you're only running T5s on the tank, and everything is working out fine. Any thoughts of getting some halides as well? Or are you pretty happy with your current setup?

Make sure your tank feeder person knows to not overfeed. People who don't know any better always seem to tend to overfeed tanks.

Hey, if you don't have an auto-top-off, make sure they keep up with that as well, otherwise your salinity will climb due to evaporation...the gigantea might not appreciate that.

I fortunately found a laptop on the trip in the hotel lobby.:)

I am glad you think my tank looks great. It has come along way in one year.

I love my T5s. They put out a TON of light. The T5s I have are made by Tek and come with individual reflectors. My T5s are also as strong as most 250 watt MH setups putting out par that can be just as intense or stonger than them as well. T5s imo come with more advantages than MH (runs cooler, no chiller needed, bulbs last longer, wide variety of bulbs, cheaper to run, light distribution is more natural...etc).

Make sure your tank feeder person knows to not overfeed. People who don't know any better always seem to tend to overfeed tanks.

I gave the feeder person a baggy of food that had a small amount of food in it. I told the feeder person that you will have to estimate the amount of food to use each day so by the time I come back, the food is used up. Trust me, if anything, the fish will be underfed with this setup. :)

I topped off the system before I left really good and also instructed the person to put a little bit of water in the sump each day so no changes happen.

Those are beautiful! I would love to get a gigantea, but the last time I bought what I thought was a gigantea, it turned out to be an atlantic carpet and ate my clowns! It had the same long tentacles and little bumps underneath... Oops!

Your carpet looks great. Are you worried about it overtaking your tank? From what I have read carpets, get pretty big and they are aggresive. It seems like they could overun a 55 gal. tank.

If the Gigantea survives, I am going to setup a 40 gallon cube specifically made for the Gigantea. I am not to worried about the S. Haddoni. My haddoni has already eaten 6 fish and one shrimp and if I were to get rid of it, I would feel like I just wasted all those fish and that shrimp.

Beautiful carpets. I especially like that blue one. :)

Thanks. Only if I could find an orange Haddoni I could have Gator colors. :D

Yes i agree that would be sweet. Can we have a update on the carpets?

Will get some tomorrow when everything is fully inflated.

I had Dual 250w MH.

Did some research on the TEK by sunlight supply like you mentioned up above both put out the same lumenex(sp) both averaging around ~100.

So I ended up buying a TEK fixuture for my upgrade:D

How is the Gigantea doing? I want to buy one in this new set up and wondering how it is opening reacting with the T5's down by the sand, and your flow?

Thanks bro!

The Gigantea is still alive and sticky. He/she has lots of folds right now at the moment. My Gigantea is doing great with my T5s. Everything in my tank is. As for flow, I have two rio powerheads pointed at the front of the glass and which bounces off and hits the Gigantea. Not to mention my return pipe and two other powerheads that is putting out flow too. I still need more flow but I am working on this. Thanks
