Pictures of my tank... FINALLY!

Tank looks great! The pics show you know what your doing Feel free to share any tips you think got you that sharpness. I have the tamron 90 macro , it's a great lens but I think it works better with your expertise. Nice work.

Sigma 105 macro is also nice, and not too expensive (relatively). I wish I would have bought the Canon 100mm. I cheaped out. The sigma takes great pics, but I like the internal focusing mechanism of the Canon. The Canon 100L is just ridiculously priced!

Anything Nikon or Canon brand is expensive. LOL, gotta keep your eyes out on equipment that people used for a little and sell. Most get into it and spend crazy money, only to sell back dirt cheap. I've been lucky since I was doing pro photography for a few years, now and days I do it freelance.

Wow Eric, looks great! I specially love the rock work. Plenty of space for frags!!

Thanks, yeah there are a few spots left for frags but those will be specific ones that I truly want in the tank. A few of them I want to eventually weed out once they get larger.

Nice tank. The clown in the second pic looks like a 3D picture.

Thanks!

I'll have to drop by and give that Tamron a try. A free how to lesson is included. lol

Hey Eric, how much post processing here? I like the vignetting on some of the shots. I assume thats added for effect? I love the pic of the clown and froggy. This is the third time today I look at those pics. Dayum theyre nice. I can never get good pics of my tank because of the curved front of the biocubes. Distorts everything, especially macros. I assume this tank has the Diamant glass? ;)

BTW, what kind of Anthias are those? I LOVE Anthias. Me want. Think a trio will fit in my Biocube? <-- Oh no he didn't....):hammer:

Beautiful Tank!! I really love the clean look of the screen top and rimless!! Can you post more pictures on that and more info?

Also would like to see your overflow design!

Tagging along!

Main processing I did was white balance correction, they are as true to color as you would see them in person. Or I tried my best without getting out of control while processing. :D Yeah, some vignetting was added to emphasize the subject.

The Anthias are lyretails. I'll be taking them out later due to their size, way too big in my tank and I feel bad for them. By the time you set up your tank and want them, I'll give you a good deal on all three. lol, if I think my 56g is small, you've lost your mind in the Biocube. You want to be lectured again by the tang police, but this time the anthia police?!

Will do, probably next week I'll be able to. The overflow is a Herbie method. Uses two 1" drains and a 3/4" return. One drain has a full siphon and I placed a strainer to prevent the fishes from taking a ride to the filter sock (yes, it really happened!) the second drain is a "dry" drain aka emergency drain. The system has not failed yet and trust me once the emergency drain kicks in, you will know there is a problem. The return is split into two using loclines. I'll post up more pictures of this as well, visual is always better!

Thanks for the comments! :)

nice progression tank, im on the same boat but im just one month old :) building it from frags and some older colonies

Great pics man. I'm hoping to get the Nikon D5100, and I agree with you, go big or go home. It's nikon lenses all the way! I'll have to get your photo expertise once I get my camera.

Sounds like a plan! Anthias is the only fish I HAVE to add at some point to my tank. I know some think they are over-rated, but I just love them:inlove:

Make sure you start the build thread now, I love following builds. I only wish I started out right when I was setting up.

Not a problem, ask away when you get your camera. Most of this is basic stuff and playing with the camera till you get the settings you want.

+1...that is exactly what I thought too. Really cool how that turned out!! Your tank is gonna look sweet when the frags start growing out...nice selection of corals.

Thanks, still have to weed out a few of them. I have my eye on a few other pieces that I would love to add.

I'm the same way, my gf said what's the big deal, they look like gold fishes. lol

I'm a canon person lol. But I do love your pictures.

My wife seems to think so too but I think they are awesome specially the female lyretail anthias.

cool shots. thanks for sharing camera/lens options. I'll be looking for a camera soon, next hobby/obsession I guess.

Remember... Nikon > Canon. lol, let's not start a debate.

If you have any questions about purchasing or anything, feel fre to ask.

Can we see a picture of the screen on top?

Of course, I'll get some this coming week. Stay tuned, more tank images will be posted soon!

They look like fancy yellowtail snappers to me, LOL!

Here are some updates of the rest of the tank. I didn't put too much effort into these as I should have. Once I am completely done and satisfied with everything I will take new photos. Enjoy these for now!

Area where the tank sits. Gotta have some nice ottomans for when all you want to do is kick back and stare at the tank!

Smoked Acrylic Cover. This idea just came about, I wanted to create something out of the normal door and a more modern look to it all considering the DT is rimless. When the refugium light isn't on, you can barely see through it. Sometimes I leave the lights on to give it a nice effect. The original idea was to go with all black acrylic but this worked out even better for me.

Hard to see, but it utilizes the Herbie Overflow method. Two 1" drains and a 3/4" return. Works very well, just ask me how I know it works!

Thanks to Matt for helping me drill the holes in the lid for the hose and power cable. That FMAS meet with working on acrylic featuring Matt really helped out as it was my first time working with acrylic. Called up Prospect Plastics and told them what I needed, less then 30 mins it was done. They did all the math and sold me everything I needed to make it happen. Fitment was dead on!

Again this is a really CLEAN look after seeing the new add on photos.

First I feel like kicking myself by not thinking of that simple easy idea of those hangers being incorporated to your tank without having to mess with the walls. As it seems your set up is like I could be wrong. But I guess I was more concern of not messing with the structure of the stand but I am sure I can come up with a clean look like yours.

I am starting to regret now buying the TEK legs I bought ahead of time for a real good price brand new!

Whats your 6 combo bulb? I also noticed you have a 56g your dims might be slight different from a 55g standard which is what I have and I am planning in going with the 48" 6 bulb How is the 6 bulb working for you? Looks like you have the 36" ATI.

The smoked acrylic door was a brilliant idea!! Whats holding your screen mech cover so it doesn't easily come off or it does?

What pump are your running for your return?

The dry drain I am assuming by looking at your picture is the straight up one hanging above your water. Are both drain connected to the same line are they both linked? or You have more than one drain line running to your sump?
