Pictures of your "War" Corals

WOW, That is all I can say....Have you guys had relatively good experiences with this coral? I never buy corals until I know requirements and difficulty because I don't want to waste something I'm not quite ready for...I've lost a couple in the beginning but now seem to have things in the swing and growth is great....

heres a pic of the colony i got mine from:

I'll post my pic up later on, but I'd say it's pretty easy to care for. I used to give daily feedings and in 1 month it went from 4 to 14 heads! I don't do anything special, it's under 150w 10k, just hanging out. :)
It's so pretty

Haha thanks, the true war coral lineage from reefready.net develops those swirls. It really is an easy coral to keep though, however desipite its hardcore name, it loses a lot of stinging battles so make sure it has room. It also grows faster if you have it mounted to a nice flat rock.

It definietely is one of the few corals that people who aren't into the hobby comment about. "What a pretty rock!" lol

dumb question - what makes a "war" coral a "war" coral? Is it just that it is a Favia? Or is there something else that makes them a "war" coral?

Here's my war coral. By far the fastest grower in my tank. I see about 2 new heads every week. Very easy to take care of. Seems to be happy no matter where in my tank I place it.

Lovely corals...

Anyone keeping fragglereef's blue war coral? Always curious to see how that one grows out..

Hey, I don't think it's dumb at all, it's hard to keep up with all the names of everything, especially when there are so many for even the same species, and then people begin focusing on lineage, etc, etc, etc....

I had to google it, I had no idea what it was either, but apparently a war coral is a so called due to the blood red color and the species name PENTAGONa, per this site: http://www.reeffarmers.com/auctionedwarcoral.htm

ct - thats some nice growth

Thanks... Back when I had time, it used to get fed alot... Now, not as much... lol ;)

Not sure why but I fed mine a piece of mysid and after that the polyp closed up and then eventually died away taking the other polyp with it. I got the frag from fraggle and it never really took off.

ianiwane~ Purple war coral??? At least thats what mine looks like... Well, except smaller... lol Sweet pic... :)

thecichlidpleco~ About all I feed mine is PE Mysis... It takes off when I feed it, but grows pretty good reguardless...

Its actually a war coral from aquaticcollection. Up side by side with the tyree big mouth war coral this one is a lot brighter with way bigger green centers. They used to sell it as frags. Last one sold on ebay went for 70 dollars for a single polyp. lol
