Piece of junk regulator

I'm tired of messing with my Milwaukee CO2 regulator and want to get a new one. I can't get any bubbles from the one I've got - and I don't know why. The needle valve is probably corroded or blocked. I've soaked it in alcohol before and that seemed to help but I'm tired of messing with the think.

I'm looking at the Reef fanatic regulator. Anyone had good experience with this model?

Also, do I need a check valve? I've had so many problems with my DIY reactor and ended up flooding the bubble counter with saltwater (probably the cause of the corrosion). Will a check valve keep saltwater from flowing back into the bubble counter?

if you can figure out which piece is corroded you can replace just that piece with parts from a welding supply place. a cheap airline check valve will keep the water from reaching the regulator.

Mike I feel your pain...I have cleaned mine for the last time. I am in the market for a new as well. Just say no to Milwaukee.

I use the same one on as Dave on my planted tank. However, the tank is at the point where everything grows fine with out it. If I turn it on, I get growth but I also get algae blooms.

So if you want it, you can have the entire setup for 150 bucks - regulator, full 10lb (I think it's 10lb - it cost 20 bucks to fill it a couple of weeks ago) CO2 tank, CO2 reactor http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3747+15524&pcatid=15524 and bubble counter http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3747+4648&pcatid=4648. (the bubble counter has a check valve with it)

Regulator is 6 or 8 months old and looks brand new (never in a salt environment or near water) The reactor dissolves the CO2 into the water (around 99% dissolve rate).

Thanks to MayoBoy for the good deal on the new equipment - new regulator, bubble counter, bigger full bottle, and check valves. Got everything set up tonight and I'm back in the calcium making business.
