Pincushion Urchin color forms?

There's a small pincushion urchin at my LFS that they have had for a little bit now that's all black. I was wondering if that coloration would change as it grew?

Tried to google around but only found pink, purple and blue pincushion urchins being mentioned.

I'm probably going to pick it up tonight regardless as I don't mind his coloration (or lack there of), was just curious.

It'll probably stay that color. Urchins seem to have a good bit of variation in their coloration, so I wouldn't be surprised if you just have a really dark blue one or something.
Is it a tuxedo urchin? Tuxedos have spine-less vertical bands, and are prone to picking things up with their feet. Also, they come in Halloween coloration, which is black with scattered orange, green, and white spines.

No vertical bands it's just listed as pincushion and it's all black throughout.

Does it have evenly spaced, tiny spines? If so, it's almost definitely a pincushion. Whatever it is, yes, it'll probably stay black.
