Pink anemone help??

I purchased a small pink? bta about 6 months ago in my 72 gallon mixed reef tank under T 5 lighting. Intially the anemone was located in the back of the tank shadowed by some live rock. As of the past 2 weeks he has been moving around the back of the tank but seems to keep finding a lower place to rest all the way at the bottom. Its completely shaded and about an 1 inch from the the bottom of the aquarium. The anemone shrunk to about the size of a nickel. All of these locations are not with in my reach for me to help relocate to a better suited home.

shrinking and expanding is normal, however, unless if its splitting going into the dark can be a sign of a dying anemone. when they split they often hide. ( you will see it start to develop a line where its begining to split - looks like 2 cells that divide but takes longer). Have you been feeding it? how are your water parameters? how low has your tank been established? if he expands again, cut up some silversides into tiny pieces and try to feed him. if he drops them, place the food over his mouth and see if he consumes it. This is very important - you let him expand his insides around the food, you do not push the food into him. you can hurt him by doing that, possibly killing him. you are just gently holding the food above his mouth. if he eats thats a good sign and feed him often.

G/l will be watching for updates.

thank you tigger. the tank has been set up for over a year and half. I am having a hard time getting to him based on his odd loacation. he has been in the tank for 6 months. I feed the fish and corals hoping some food gets to him. the water parameters are on par with water changes occuring every 2 weeks
