pink birdsnest question

I got this piece from a fellow reefer on here. It does have some white areas stemming upward from the base, the top inch or so of most branches have polyp extension so should I frag off the parts with polyp extensions and chaulk up a loss to the rest of the base parts?

I recently moved it up higher in the tank and in an area of higher flow to see if it would change things but its the same.

I am running a 150 watt MH and 2 65W pcs over a 40 gal tank. Birdsnest is probably 8 inches below light fixture...

sometimes as birdsnest grows out it shades the underneath branches and they die, if this dieoff is recent I would suggest cutting it.

I was going to cut and trim...just kinda wanted to hear someone else say it as well...lol

Its probably just shaded itself. I find that when it shades itself, the shaded part gets covered in detritus, I usually cut it off myself.
