Hello Jeni
Place some rock rubble between the cloves and mushrooms. Let the clove polyps grow onto the rocks and then cut the runners, wala instand frags ready to sell/swap!

Yeah, I've been doing that but the cloves keep pushing the rocks offa them!

I spoke to Anthony Calfo, thinking the same thing. Here's what he wrote back:

"you should not peel them... but you can chisel them off
with a sharp woodworkers chisel. Bite into the rock
underneath them."

I don't feel confident doing this myself & do not want to wreck the rock they are on.
