I have 2, one for about a year and one for 4-5 months. They need flow, and mine climbed to the top of my reef as soon as they hit the water, and seldom move. They put out their tentacles to feed, stuffing one arm after the other down their "throats" to strip off particles of food. It takes a lot of invert food to keep them from shrinking, but I have a lot of hungry gorgonians and other filter feeders, so that I overfeed and skim hard and keep fresh phosban and charcoal and a well-stocked cleaning crew, plus heavy water changing in order allow the process. I've heard they are not particularly toxic, but can't say I've experienced losing one.
