Pink lemonade turned green

I have a pink lemonade frag that went through a lot of stress (red bugs followed by AEFW) that the body turned green and the polyps stayed pink. After I got rid of the pests it stayed green, so I got another frag and now that one is turning green. Still has amazing polyp extension and looks great, just green. All the other SPS in the tank have their natural colors, it is just pink lemonade.

Lighting wise I have a 5 bulb T5 fixutre with 2 6k bulbs, 2 22k bulbs and one figi pink. Is that the reason or am I missing something?

Also, I don't have my water params right now but nothing is dieing and all the other SPS have amazing color and PE.

Any thoughts?

is the new growth on them a diff color or is the new growth still green? usually with mine since it went through stress it turned green but the new shoots come out yellow i think more light it turns yellow. lower bulb color more yellow. higher more green i think i have no idea.as long as its alive and growing give it time.

The PL turns green in certain tanks; usually when placed in lower kelvin tanks and lower in the tank. Thats one of the cool things about that coral.

I think KZ new GEN beats it, much cooler color as well.

huh i didnt know kz made a line of bulbs that competes with the ati blues. iv been with halides for a bit so i havent read much on t-5

As already mentioned it has to do with the amount of light. High light you get yellow lower light you get green. Mine is mostly yellow with a little green in the shaded areas.

Thank you guys for the responses, now I know I am not going crazy. My wife actually likes the green color that comes in so I am probably not going to change anything. The bulbs I am using are giessman (and the one KZ) and the corals are actually pretty high up right under the light. Maybe I will move a frag to my MH tank and see what happens. Thanks again.

Thanks for the thread. Mine is green and it is in lower light which is where I thought it should go.

If you check out tyree cite it goes into the lineage, and I believe the original coral was green and it wasnt until later when it was placed under 20K lighting that the amazing colors came through.
"This Acropora is an exotic coral with brilliantly colored pink polyps that extend during the day. The main branch stems are colored bright lime green. One of the tentacles in each polyp will super extend and this gives the thin branching Acropora a hairy pink appearance. The coral also has some purplish/blue pigments that can appear in the base or on branches. Reeffarmers acquired our fragment from Hugo Zuniga (snipersps). The coral has a very interesting captive history. Hugo acquired his fragment in late 2003 from John Susbilla (Tubs). John had been growing his captive grown fragments from an imported colony that he probably acquired back in the late 1990's. John was calling the coral Lime Green Acro and a few fragments were distributed. Unfortunately it appeared that everyone lost the coral for a time except for Alex (Reefer on a Budget) who had acquired an early fragment from Tubs. Alex then distributed fragments to Tubs, Mingwei and Joleen of Atlantis Aquarium. Hugo acquired an Alex fragment through Tubs. Early on this coral had interesting but not spectacular coloration. Alex believes that under 10,000 K the coral was more of a yellow with orange brown polyps and a purplish growth edge. He then noticed that when Rob Zayan placed a fragment under 20,000 K halides the true spectacular pigment morphs developed. Eventually Hugo's fragment grew into a colony and through Tubs a fragment from Hugo was sold on Ebay for $550.00 . Tubs decided to change the name to Pink Lemonade Acropora for marketing purposes. Atlantis Aquarium began calling the coral 'Shades of Fall'. A second Ebay sale of the coral went for $400.00 . It now looks like both Reeffarmers and Atlantis are going to use the name 'Pink Lemonade Acropora'. The coral grows slowly and it has not been widely distributed. Hugo believes he only distributed about 10 fragments before his colony was recently lost in an accident. It also turns out that John Susbilla acquired his original Lime Green Acropora from Steve Tyree (owner/operator of Reeffarmers) many years ago. Steve remembers handling a few of these Acropora species morphs and he currently believes the coral was originally exported from the Solomons. Only a few ever came in and it was a very delicate to ship colony. Only tiny colonies of frag colonies made it alive from the Solomons. Steve sold the coral to John Susbilla (Tubs) back before John started his online company. John was a collector of exotic stonies back then and at that time Steve was one of only a few people who specialized in handling stonies. Steve has not seen this coral morph imported since the Solomons experienced a civil war. Steve Tyree is maintaining a farmed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in one of his 125 gallon naturally filtered Tri-Zonal Reef Aquariums. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positoned to recieve strong light levels under a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium Metal Halide. It should be noted however that this Pink Lemonade Acropora has morphed within Steve's system (see last image below). Corallites have rounded and pigments have shifted. The brilliant lime green has been replaced with purplish/pink. Polyps are also more white pigmented and only partially extend. We do not know why this has occurred at this time. The coral is encrusting well in its base area which it was not doing within Hugo's reef. In his reef the colony consisted of numerous long vertical branches. i have mine in a 90, low in the tank with 2 150 14k de and 4 39w t-5's and mine has a hint of lime green but basically super red. I love it.
