pink pocillipora spawning?

Is it possible for a pink pocillipora to spawn in a tank? I have what appears to be about eight very small pieces growing off of different pieces of live rock, off the coraline algae on the glass on the back of my tank, and on the coraline algae on my overflow box. I can't see what else it would be from. I've had the pink pocillipora from a frag I got about 2 years ago and its now about 5" wide in a 30 gallon tank.

Just wondering, Thanks!

yup, its possible.

there was just a thread about this in the sps section. the guy said it was taking over his tank and he was looking for a way to get it to stop.

Thanks - I checked out the thread- sounds like it could be a problem down the line, but still seems pretty cool to me!

i had that happen years ago with a gren one. it was all over the place. its cool but bad at the same time. as the babies grow they may sting other corals.

my green one is doing the same thing. Look at it this way, it frags itself, you don't get crazy glue all over your fingers and you can trade/sell it.

yup, my green did the same about two years ago..put all the little ones together and they grew into one colony now.

Yes, they are generally monthly brooders and release planulae, which then settle out.
It is a sign of good health, so congrats.
