i DIYed my sump and used the GE 100% silicone that everyone said to use. it has been running since saturday. the silicone cured for atleast a couple of months (im slow). just tonight i noticed it was turning flourescent pink. i have read a couple of other threads on RC that talk about this and no one seems to be worried, should i be?

WOW, that is pretty pink.... not that im an expert, but if it is 100% silicone without any of the antimicrobial junk, and it is not silicone 2, you should be good...

this is what i used...the silicone is used throughout the sump, but only pink ina few places.......

Looks kind of cool, lol. If nobody else has experienced issues I wouldn't be concerned. If there is no antimicrobial I'm sure you'll be fine.

I don't think it is corraline but maybe some sort of cyanobacteria feeding off of something in the silicone?

I had some coraline in my tank that started as bright pink, it would glow under moonlights too but it eventually turned a deeper purple once i had my lights on it for a while

Anymore research into this. I am experiencing it in the silicone in my sump as well, oddly it is also appearing on a small patch of glass without silicone too.

Wondering if it goes away turns to coraline, anyone have a long term experience to share?
