Pink skunks and btas

Has anyone had skunks host in a bta? I had a large ocellaris that hosted in my rbta. Am going smaller (40g) and am looking at a smaller species like skunks, but I'm not interested in keeping a more difficult nem than a bta- I do very well with them.

Years ago I tried a couple of different BTA (one green/one red) with a pair of Pink Skunks, but to no avail. :(

IME, they only host carpets or sebae. I know someone who got a group of them to host a Ritteri.

I've always avoided carpets as I've heard they can eat some smaller fish. Have you kept them yourself? I wouldn't want to try a ritteri; too many stories of them being too hard to keep.

Yeah, carpets are bad for your hands and your other fish. ;) And for some reason they cost like a gazillion dollars these days. :eek1:

I've kept a few ritteris in my time. Never had any problems. I've always kept them near the top, close to the light, in strong flow. I also supplemental feed them often. They can be a little pricey too, but not as bad as a carpet.

But if you're looking for cheap & easy, then IMO & E; a sebae is as easy as a BTA.

Here are mine old skunks.

I've always loved the looks of the ritteri, but I have the wander more than most. One of my rbta clones walked into a modded maxi jet, and I had anemone frappe'. I would hate to see that happen. I was keeping them under vho- maybe they wouldn't wander under halide.

Yes, they are Orange skunk clown. They are my favorites.

I am definitely thinking about getting my skunk on. Would you consider them to be hardy? I've kept ocellaris and clarkis with no issues. Are they relatively the same in hardiness and temperament? I must add one caveat to that, my pair of clarkis had a nasty divorce as the male changed sex, and I had two females in the tank- not pretty.

Pink skunks are the wimpiest of clownfish. Very hardy. I got two that were almost the same size, as that's all the lfs had in 6 months. One ended up biting the others tail off so much that the spine was sticking out the back end. We got rid of the mean one, and the survivor is the one in the pic above. They were just too close in size. Pink's wouldn't do that to any other fish, it was just a pairing incident.

LOLOLOL. My skunks are the meanies little bitc*es ever. I currently have them in a 100gallon and whenever I try to add a fish they kill it in like 5-7 hours. They also bite me soooo much. I still love them though.

I've heard that the oranges are like that, not pinks though. I wanted the oranges, but my wife likes the pinks. I was moving the rock the anemone was on yesterday, and she just swam away from my hand lol.

I'll just see how it goes. I'm assuming I should buy them paired. Although I might go in a different direction now! All of a sudden Percs sound good. Thanks for the feedback.

You don't have to buy them paired. Just get two with the biggest size difference you can find, like one twice the size of the other. It took mine about 2-3 months to take to the bta.
