"Pinky the Bear" Acropora

+1, It's bleached or very white to say the least. There's no way it's going to hold that white color.

Holy moly...what part of "it's not..." bleached did you all not read? It is NOT white at the base. It's a light blue/teal...NOT white (again...photo skills). You'd think after 8 years in the hobby with SPS-dominant tanks and after rescuing several hundred dying coral that I'd know what "bleached" is. This is exactly why I stopped posting in this forum (and guess I should return to that status.)

No that's the photo from reef farmers.
And it looks bleached to me.. But what do I know I guess.. Your camera skills aren't that bad and the photo isn't all that horrible, the white balancing is fairly accurate and given all the other colors in your photo.. I'd still have to go with slightly bleached.. Don't take it so personally.. U just got it.. I'm sure you will color it up nicely.

I would look on the Dallas form. That's where it originated. Good luck I lost two of them from tyree before they ever got acclimated.

Thanks, and sorry to hear about your losses. Any idea what happened with them?
I got mine from RockyMountainFrags two weeks ago, and his mother colony is doing quite well. Mine is just browning out a bit in the QT tank, so I'm excited to see how it'll do in the display.

A coral farmer bought one for me while he was in Atlanta from Steve. It didn't make the flight. Steve was nice enough to replace it for free, and I bought 5 more frags. Pinky was the only one that didn't make it. Your frag is MUCH larger than mine was. Hopefully you have better luck as it is a stunning stick.
I'm glad I don't live by RMF's, I'd be eating block cheese. His collection is insane.

No joke. I only live 30 minutes away, and my husband makes sure he goes with me...he knows better than to take my word. 
I'm switching from 2x400W + 2x54W T-5's over to LEDs in the next month. I'm going to keep a backup frag of it in my growout tank (T-5's) in case the LEDs wipe it out.

Too funny! I've been running 3 radions over my 180. When I get the 300 going I will be using 400w mh, t-12 and supplementing with the LEDs. I fell my colors were better back when I used mh.

I'm in engineering grad school, and I had to have a project for my thesis...so I thought I'd try LEDs. If they don't work out as well as I hope, then I'll still have my MH's to fall back on (and a grad degree to show for it). They should be done in the next week or so. After I finish them, I have a whole 6 month set of testing parameters (design of experiments) to run through to hopefully find the "sweet spot".
Right now my paper is about 50 pages long...probably will be closer to 75-100 once it's done, but I will post it online for anyone interested.

I aquired my frag from Mr. Tyree from Frag Framers about two months ago and it looked like yours. Colors were washed out. Now the pink and teal colors are coming in and it is actually one of my faster growers. I think yours will fair just fine. It is my fav sps in my tank right now because it's struture is so untypical of like other acros...

this is how mine looks now and colors are improving every week...by no means is it a colony yet but just wanted to shine in...
