Pipefish Qs

Master of my domain
Ive had my 60g cube tank transfered from an established 4 yr old reef for almost 8mths. I have a sps + lps with 3 PJ cardinals and a perc. Ive always admired pipes and wanted to try a pair knowing theyre on the difficult side but my current tank will permit me to at the very least try to raise them. After looking local Im having trouble finding a pair...initially liked dragon pipes but right now I cant be too picky b/c no one can get them. Ive never considered buying fish online b/c I like to feed and see them in person however lack of supply is limiting my choices.

How have people fared when purchasing from an online vendor. I saw live aquaria has banded pipes instock however dont want to just toss money out the window if its not a wise decision in the first place. Any experience/suggestions/advice is welcomed.

flagfins tolerate shipping fairly well, and LA certainly does a good job of packing/handling. as long as the pipes were in good condition, there really shouldn't be too much of a problem.

bandeds do very well under reef conditions, and tend to train fairly quickly to frozen mysis.

they have sm and med sized banded pipes. Am I better off with a larger pipe? or would a smaller pipe take more readily to frozen food? or no difference.

i personally prefer to get younger fish if i have a choice, as i like to grow them up. that being said, some say younger fish adapt to new things more readily. how small is "small"?
