Pipefish questions

A lady I know ordered some seahorses for her mom, dwarves I think but anyways they sent along some two pipefish, not sure what kind, she posted a pic on Facebook and they look like what's called gulf pipefish on the pipefish pic thread on here. She got two but apparently they've had 20 or so babies already and she is feeding them live brine, has them in a 2 gallon tank by themselves and wants me to take them. I've been in the hobby several years but never kept pipes or seahorses and not sure any of my setups are suitable for them, or if they will eat frozen ever? This lady doesn't have much saltwater knowledge and can't keep them long.

Live brine newly hatched are too large for many pipefish fry.
When I had pipefish, I was never able to keep the fry alive for long, even though I can raise reidi fry to adult.

Oh I'm not expecting the babies to survive, and I hadn't planned on taking them, my concern was the two adults, the babies look tiny and I don't think the lady has anything for fish food other than the brine. What's a good size tank for pipefish? She said the larger adult is around 4 inches.
