Pipefish

Would a pipefish be okay in a 5 gallon til may? and then would it be okay in a 72 gallon bow front tank? My LFS has a few and said they do great in small tanks since they can get food easier. Then would it be okay in a large tank?

What kind would be best for those 2 tanks? I have the 5 gallon tank with nothing in it and my LFS said it would be a good fish for it. I can wait if that is whats best

Wait. They are not that uncommon and you should have a lot of pods for them. To start.
you can get any of them really. Just stay away from anemones....they will always get the pipe

pipe fish are awesome.. I wish I could have one.. just keep him feed.. plenty of pods...shake off some cheato or put a little ball in your tank every now and then so he can feed away..

I wouldn't put any pipefish in a 5 gallon tank. Can't really comment on the 72 without knowing more about what else you're planning to keep - fish, but also corals - and what kind of setup you've got in mind.

Best general advice is to be patient and wait until your larger tank has been up and running for a while. Avoid other fish that will compete for pods.
