pistol shrimp kills fish?

Well can they? I think mine might just have, the fish is swimming *ahem*loosely speaking*cough*

My pistol shrimp is a tiger pistol and about an inch and a half long...the fish in question is a rabble rousing six line wrasse. Anyone have this happen?

Some people will tell you yes, but in my experience I have never seen it. I have had many small gobies and wrasses in with a few different types of pistols and never had an issue. Is your fish damaged like bites taken out of it or just swimming funny??

He was swimming like he had a few too many...I have noticed him swimming "drunkenly" like he was before last night just really never cared enough to think about (I'm not a big fan of this Sixline, and so far he's eluded capture)...last night he was swimming normally then he dissapeared into the live rock (presumably to harass the pistol shrimp, it's his favorite past time) there was a very loud pop from the shrimp then Mr. Sixline comes "stumbling" out of the rocks about 45 seconds later and laid on the sand in a less than feeling well manor...I imagine that this "popping" cannot be good for his little fishy brain.

My main concern is my ORA snowflake clowns getting "popped" by the shrimp too...not going to lie, I'm unsure if these clowns have the mental capacity to explore...the reason I was watching the tank close enough to correlate the wrasse behavior to the shrimp, was that one of my clowns takes great joy in making bubbles, chasing them, gulping the bubbles up, spitting a bubble or two back out, then catching those bubbles again and again and again...eventually, it will suddenly realize it has wandered too far from it's anemone and will swim back as fast as it can, within a few moments all is well with the clown and the bubble blowing starts all over again...I'm entirely way too amused buy this little clowns entire process and don't want to see him harmed.

I am not an expert. What I think happened was that the sixline tried to take out the pistol shrimp and it defended itself. Probably did not even touch the fish, but the sound may have stunned it.

That's the thought process I'm figuring is most likely too...the sixline is fine today, I'm thinking I might have a "this town(tank) ain't big enough for the two of us." scenario and I'm going to have to remove one before they have a showdown. Now who's going to be easier to catch? Haha (rhetorical question:))

I've posted this response in other places, but my pistol shrimp definitely killed and ate two fish. They nabbed them while the fish were sleeping, so it was not related to defending their burrow. However, I had a mated pair of pistols, and that may have influenced their interactions with their tank mates.
