Pistol Shrimp missing

I just got a new pistol shrimp 2 days ago and he is very small. I cant seem to find him. I dont know if he got killed by my hermits or he is just hiding and i cant find him. Any one got any clue to where he can be?

Mine like to hide out in barnacle caves and makes his snapping sound.

Occasionally, I see mine with a red flashlight.

Best of luck,

Roy

When I first put mine in I didn't see it for over a month, then it just showed up. I'd wait awhile before I worried too much.

My beautiful little randalls pistol shrimp has been missing for about three months. I assumed dead from when I moved rocks around, or a fish, or crab made a meal of him.

But whenever I go into my tank and clean I will notice small holes dug into the sand under my rocks, so I started closeing them up when I vacuum the sand.
That night if I go in after all the lights have been off for an hour or so, I can shine a red flashlight in the and see him re-digging the holes.

When my pistole was paired up with my watchman goby, you would see him all the time, like the took turns watching the opening to thier cave/home.
But when they went thier own ways awhile back, I rarely see the shrimp.

You still have the watchman AND the pistol but they are no longer a pair? Did you get them as a pair?

Is this normal? I was thinking of getting a goby/pistol pair, but I figured it was a "death do us part" deal.

I only see my hitchhiked revolver (I knocked "pistol" up a notch - BAM!) shrimp is seen only when I drastically remodel the rockwork.

I did not buy them as a pair. I had the goby for a long time, then brought the shrimp home about 4 months later, and the shrimp moved right in to the gobies cave, at first the goby didn't mind, but then I think the shrimp started leaving the toilet seat up, dirty dishes in the sink, etc...so one day the goby upped and moved, and the shrimp left to hide under my rock work more.

Actually I think they broke up because of me, they paired up in a rock that didn't allow me to watch them, it was turned away from the front of my tank, so being the selfish pig that I am I moved the rock around, and they got mad and went thier own ways.
