Pistol shrimp reefsafe? Well this one...lol

I have a Randalls pistol shrimp that shares his cave system with his buddy, my Yashia goby. They've been in the tank for maybe 7 or 8 months. Today, I watched as the pistol shrimp grabbed a mushroom polyp that was loosely attached to the sand, and pull it so far into his cave that the only way it's ever coming out again is if he brings it out. I can see about 1.5" into his tiny cave and there's no sign of the 'shroom. All that not withstanding, I love the little guy!

Wow, that's the first time I ever heard of a pistol going for coral of any kind. Must be some kind of fluke. You keep him well fed? Maybe he/she wanted a little color in the den.

Mine do this sometimes too to make doors and structures. I try to not keep anything too close to its den, lest it not come back out again

I saw my pistol grab a small nassarius snail once, dragging it in his cave, never to be seen again (the snail).. I love the pistol shrimp though, so he's free to take whatever the heck he wants.. (as long as it's nothing expensive.. hehe)

He must have stunned the snail with his oversized claw, rendering it immobilized.
