Pistol Shrimp?

Howdy, I figured I'd just start a thread here rather than emailing for such a simple question but more than likely sometime in the next week or two I'll be placing an order for some stuff. One/two of the things I'm really hoping to get is a yellow watchman goby and a tiger pistol shrimp and I was just wondering if you knew if any were going to be coming up for sale sometime soon or if its going to be a while with you guys moving. I am signed up for the email notification when more are listed but was just curious if could find out when more would be :D.

I'm kinda hoping to get a tiger just because from all I've read on here it seems they're not quite as shy as the randall's, get a little bit bigger, and are more active diggers. I have seen where you offer YWGs that have already been paired but from the site it seems that its more of a grab bag what pistol species you end up with.

This is just my experience......

I have gotten yellow watchmens paired with tigers and never seen either again.

I have gotten yashikas paired and never seen them again.

IMO its a crap shoot not only if they stay paired once introduced to your tank but what will happen even if they are paired.

I had a large tiger that wasnt paired and it came out all the time and you could hand feed it.

I currently have a randel's that has not paired and I never saw it till I put a diamond goby in and now its out all the time.

I also have a yeshika that pair ed with a tiger and its ouyt a lot and the shrimp is out moving sand a bunch.

What ever you buy or do good luck to you. Took me a long time to finally get something paired.(3 yashikas, 2 yellow watchmens, 1 randel's, 1 other one. Cant think what it was.)

Thanks for the question. Your best bet actually is to get one of our paried skews. As you mentioned, it is a crap shoot as to what species you get but about half the time they come in with the tiger pistol anyway. The other half of the time they are paried with cool looking shrimp that we haven't been able to ID. Some are red or orange. Some are striped. But this is the best way to do it since they actually collected together in the wild. We keep them in cups together and they have done quite well. Hope that helps.

Thank you [extends to you too rbnice] for the answer. Is there anyway when ordering from you guys to attach a comment that you for example prefer a certain species if its available? This will be my first time ordering from you, I know some places I've ordered from in the past have that option but not sure if you do or not.

The ones that are already paired, for the gobies its just yellow watchmans correct? Just want to make sure before I order.

:D From the looks of it more than likely I'll be placing an order tomorrow sometime. Now I'm going to have to debate if I want to try an already formed pair or go ahead and go with an unpaired randall's.

Yes we have a comment section of the order taking process where you can put in whatever special requests you have. We actually get yasha/randall shrimp pairs in as well but the reason we even offer the yellow watchman pistol shrimp pair is because the gobies have tendancy to eat the shrimp if they are not already paired up. This is typical with all of the watchman gobies. The high fin gobies don't eat the shrimp so they are much easier to pair up. But the watchman gobies will eat small pistol shrimp if they feel like it.
