Pittsburgh area

Ok so I working on going to MACNA next year and my wife, daughter(4years old) and step-daughter(20 years old) will be going with me but they are wanting to check out thinks around the area, what else is around the area the conference is going to be at beside the mall.

Downtoen Pittsburgh is only 15 minutes away- a very easy drive- there you have tons of stuff both on and off the water (3 rivers). Kennywood Amusement park is huge and The Carnegie Science Center and Sports Zone are right next to each other and great for kids, the Pittbsurgh Zoo and Aquarium, The Pirates/Steelers/Pitt Panthers play right there, the National Aviary, Phipps Conservatory and stuff is always going on at Station Square too.

Cool deal what I think is going to happen is I am going to get my daughter, wife and I full registration for the conference. My step-daughter will either bring her boyfriend or just hang out at the pool until her mom is ready to look around town.

Anyone know if all ages need to be register or if there is an age cut off/start

Pittsburgh has tons of cool neighborhoods to check out as well:

South Side
Shadyside
Oakland

Just to name a few.

The strip district is worth checking out also. All of my out of town guests LOVE the strip. It is filled with eateries (mostly ethnic), little shops and fresh produce deli's.

Station Square is worth checking out also.

Sweet, My step daughter has been wanting to check out the area even before, so I know now I will not have to pay for her to be with us in the conference

Steven- so you think I should just get my wife and I now to get the $75 price tag and not worry about my daughter until later

That sounds like a safe bet to me. The banquet price does not go up, so waiting is fine.

Is there going to be a frag swap in pitt?
There won't be anything officially organized, although you can always coordinate your own swap. It is difficult to arrange these swaps over a long weekend, though.

When I went to MACNA in Boston I used one of those small Marineland aquarium without the light. The cheap one from Wal-Mart works fine. I put all my frags in that tank with free water from the swap and set it up next to my hotel window. They lasted all weekend just fine and even made the 9 hour drive home without any stress. Just a thought I would throw out there for those who were thinking about trading/swapping. It has enough flow to get you through the weekend too! Its a nice QT tank for small jobs afterwards! :)

Thanks,

Rick
