Hello All
My first tank has been up and running for about 5 weeks. Never saw a cycle. My parameters are in my signature. It's a 53 gallon open top, 31.5" x 19" x 19" tank. I have a couple small zoo frags (one is Armor of God), one has brownish fringe with orange centers, and 2 are just very small freebies my LFS threw in...one green, one fushia, but I don't know if they'll make it or not. They were really just scrap pieces.
I have a 150W 10k Metal Halide and 4 24w T5's (2 Blue+ and 2 Pure Actinic).
Good turbulent surface, but don't know if I need another power head. I have a Eheim 1260 return pump, and 1 MaxiJet 1200.
I have a rock with 4 green mushrooms that's doing awesome, and a 3" Leather Coral that's also doing awesome. The Armor of Gods are placed high in the tank, and they've been open since I bought them from another reefer. Just 4 polyps. Color looks bland when the MH is on, but color looks good when the T5's only are lit. One of the 4 polps just seems to have either melted, eaten, or it's just shut. Up until last night, all 4 had been staying open. Kind of just looks like a stem with no head right now, but the other 3 polyps look fine.
None of the zoo's seem to have extended tenticles.
The orange centered zoo's open partially some of the time, and other times are totally closed. I had them at the top of the tank, and then tried moving them down some. Should they be at the bottom of the tank?
Do I need to add vitamins....phytoplankton? Is my tank not mature enough for zoo's ? I thought zoo's were one of the easier corals to start with. Are some zoo's easier than others to start with? Do I need more flow? Is my calcium level too low for zoo's? (Haven't tested for Magnesium yet)
Thanks!
Pam
