Placement of Clam

My tank is 25"s tall and my 250w 10k MH's are 10 inches above the water line. 4" sand bed. Should I place my maxima on the sand or up higher in the rock work. I have 20x's turn over with water so I'm concerned about too much flow as well.

Recomendations?

I would play it safe and place it in the upper half of the tank since the bulb is so high. Good luck!!

Oh...as long as the mantle isn't flapping around the flow is likely ok. If it is flapping around in the current, it needs adjusted (either the placement of the clam, or the flow)

flapping gently or flapping like a bird or any flapping what so ever is bad? his mantle blows in the wind a lil.

My clams all seem to enjoy slower flow. I pretty much agree with Peabody....most clams enjoy the NO mantle flapping flow. One of my Pohnpei clams displays best in an area of my tank that receives pretty stong flow, the flow is all downdraft (directly against the mantle)....no flapping. It is the exception rather than the rule though.
