placement of ecotech mp40 on a 90 gallon

All depends on placement of rock n such. I would say go with mp40 n then later you can add a mp10. Or a small powehead. My 40 does great in my tank with just the one. Have a small dead spot in other side so a 10 should fix that

hmmm i wouldnt suggest buying an mp10 for such big tanks, im not expert on this but when i bought my 50g cadlight cube i put a pair of mp10 es on it. sometimes i wish i had gone with the mp 40's. especially now since im probably going to upgrade to a 120g.

on my 50g cube i would say the magnetic connection is weak. so i would imagine on a bigger tank it would not work. although im just assuming bigger tanks would use thicker glass then what i have, probably depends on manufacture or style of tank i guess.

and second the mp10's can provide enough flow if turned 3/4 to full power, (if you want moderate flow to reach the front) 24x24x24 and in wave mode you can produce waves if turned full blast but the surface of the water resembles what i would consider a mild or tame wave. i actually have it set to wave mode right now at 3/4 power and can barley detect any surface movement in wave form. my water level is 3/4 inch from top so that should let you know how little the water waves in my tank even at full blast.
