placement of RO storage tank with Osmolator

Would it work ok, using the correct check valves and such, to place the RO reservoir containing the osmolator pump in a cabinet up ABOVE the main tank? The pump in the RO would then feed into a kalk reactor sitting down BELOW the main tank, and then the hose from the kalk reactor would then go up and empty into the tanks overflow.

I cannot endorse this, it would be completely at your own risk and I would say it is a very big risk, I would not put my faith or the health of my aquarium and risk of damage to my house in a check valve. Gravity has yet to fail, check valves will.

I sort of figured that was the answer, and I cant dispute it. You are right, it is too much of a risk.

I'm wondering now if there would still be a risk if the RO tank with osmolator pump was BELOW the tank, but the kalk reactor was up higher. The osmolator pump would have to pump upwards to the kalk reactor each time it kicked on, and the kalk reactor tubing would feed slightly lower into the tank overflow.

That I couldn't say for sure, you might ask the kalk reactor manufacturer. There are so many different designs that it really varies.

could you get the output from the kalk reactor above the storage tank? like putting it into the overflow? all it would need is to be a little higher than the storage facility. i think you could still keep the reactor under the tank, and the return in the overflow- and not get a siphon. if not a peristaltic pump would work.

The scenario I am suggestung:

reservoir and tunze pump would be below the tank

reactor would be above the tank

reactor output tube would go to the overflow box (above the reservoir, but below the reactor itself)
