Placing an Anemone

Ok I bought a big anemone and like to know the easiest way to get him planted and won't move ? I had him in the center as scene in the picture but he moved to the side . Thank god he didn't get sucked up in the pumps .

Yep, you aren't going to stop him from moving. If you are lucky, he will sit somewhere you like and stay there, but they go where they want and force moving him from wherever he picks could damage him.

Looks like a Heteractis crispa. They like to attach in a hole in the liverock (or less likely dig into the sand and attach to the bottom). It's a good idea to put some screen or foam over the intake to prevent the anemone from getting pulled into the powerhead.

Thanks for the replies ! I have 2 150 Gyros be hard to put screen over it . They produce so much current I just hope it won't float up to them and get chopped up

I disagree with garygb about the ID of this anemone. I think he is a Macrodactyla doreensis. I bet he have a red foot.
They like lower flow and will dig in the sane. I would put him in the sand surface, and not too much flow.

You may be right Minh. I was thinking the verracue looked raised like crispa, but it may just be the smooth verracue of M. doreensis.

If it's M. doreensis, then a deep sand bed is the only thing it will be happy in long term.
