Depending on the size of the rock, you could take a dremel or a tile saw and cut the rock in half and have two frags, both with flat bottoms and easy to place.
If it's like only one polyp on one of the sides then just go ahead and use that side as the base and forget about it.

Theres not even a rock, this peice is about 40 polpys deep, and evenly distributed ober a perfect cylinder or cone

Cut it in half. You'll loose a couple of polyps - no biggie.

You can drill a small hole into it, then super glue in some kind of small plastic cylinder and place the other part of the cylinder into a small hole in your live rock. The cylinder will be hidden and it'll give you a place for the rock as well as another rock for them to spread to. Good luck.
