Planning to restart again...

After around 3 years without a marine tank, (it started leaking so i had to decommission it) I am planning to start all over again.

planning to build a 24x24x24 rimless cube tank, water level until 22 inches only
overflow will be from the middle, with an overflow box

planned sump size is around 24x24x16 as well, or do you have suggestions?
need help also on how to setup a sump now, 3 chambers was my setup before,
can anyone help me with the breakdown dimensions? or better yet samples that i can use as a base design?

thanks!

That size tank is one of my favorites. I had one running for 22 years and it would still be going if I hadn't upgraded to a 4x2x2 120g.

By center overflow do you mean from the center of the back panel, or center as in center of tank so that it can be viewed from all 4 sides?

As for sump - 3 chambers is plenty, even 2 if you are cramped for space or are planning on one of the larger footprint skimmers. The bigger the better IMO. I use a 100g stock tank as the sump for my 60g frag tank. The sump for my 120 is a 40b and has 3 chambers, the drain/sump area, then a refugium area and then the return section. I use a eheim 1262 as the return pump. Certainly not the least expensive, but with ample flow and a life expectancy probably longer than mine.

Will you be building your own stand? You can easily modify the standard RocketEngineer plan so that it will accommodate whatever size sump you want.

Lighting will depend on what you plan to keep. I used 3 x T12 VHO for years, but when I decided to try SPS, LED seemed like a no-brainer to me. I used a single AI Sol Blue over it, and when the upgrade happened, just bought another one to light the other half of the 120. IMO, a single Kessil A360W would be plenty for anything you might want, and can be installed to look really good with a rimless cube.

Welcome back to the hobby, and KEEP US POSTED!
