anyone ever tried a planted predator tank? mostly for morays im thinkin. would this be a good way to balance out excess nutrients in a high bioload system? would probably want to avoid plants that require constant trimming to avoid getting bit.

Well my tank wasn't planted heavily but I grew caulerpa racemosa and prolifera for my dragon. It did help take my nitrates down according to my test kit. Went from 30-40 to about 5-10. It was crazy! I was pulling out the half the fuge worth of algae every week.

I had a snowflake eel with lots of caulerpa for about years. Then I added a grouper and everything was great. Then I added a puffer and all my macro was gone in with a week.

cool good to hear! im planning a 225 gallon moray tank, but itll be 3' deep and acrylic so i dont want to be reaching in scraping algae..hoping this will help. a little intimidating thinking about a tank this big..but im trying to talk myself into it
