Absolutely do not remove it. I recently bought a few Blastomussa frags which faded and "died" after afew days. After about two weeks, little heads seemed to be peeking out from between the crevasses of the old heads. The babies are now full size and each corals are fully recovered. You have nothing to lose leaving the plate sitting for a month or so. Good luck!
Do not remove. That mother plate is "dead" but plates that look dead will often produce acanthocauli (baby plates) on small stalks from the almost-but-not-quite-dead skeleton.
yes I was pulling them from the mother at a certain size. they did fine for a while till things went wrong in the frag tank and I lost a few of them. Still got a few going and I hope they make it till adult size.
