I finally broke down and got a real macro lens for my Pentax K10D. The lens is a 50mm F2.8
Here are some shots from my 55.

The colony in this last pic is about the size of a quarter. That should give you some idea as to the size of the zoanthids underneath. I didn't even notice them until I took this shot.

Here's the rest of the pics.

Wow, I thought you said you were frustrated...Those look really really nice.

Thanks. I was a bit disappointed with the first few batches, but these pics came out pretty good. I tried setting up the tripod and using a remote control, but these pics were handheld using the lens hood pressed right up against the glass, using manual focus.

Gasero, you never know what's in there LOL. When I was trying to get the shots of the Feather Duster, I watched as tiny little critters floated into the fan, and those tiny little hairs react and grab it. Very interesting. I'd like to take another whack at your tank sometime, though. The last batch didn't do it justice. Let me know when I can come over and try some of your single malt. :)

Here's some pics of good little fishies that decided to sit still for a moment so I could get a macro shot.

This is a brackish water goby that somehow survived being chucked into full salt water. I had no idea this little guy was so colorful. He's about 1 1/2 inches now from about 1/2 inch when introduced.

Yes, that is a fin on his head! I love the quasi-eye spot on his dorsal fin, too. Weird little guy.

Here's a Spotted Hawkfish a neighbor brought over in a bag. He's spent more than his share of time in my overflow, but always manages to get my attention to get him out of there. I love the dorsal spines, they look like one of those bird deterrent systems. Here he his making himself comfy on a bed of green star polyps.

I had a really cool violet goby that I wanted to acclimate to salt...apparently they are also a brackish species that can go from fresh to salt very easily. Had one in my fresh tank for quite a while.
