please explain penductors to me

i saw pics online. does this screw on end of return pump hose maybe? what exactly does it do, and is it worth it?

I'm pretty sure they are lockline compatable ends that allow extra water to be siphoned from around the return nozzle creating more flow. I would put them on any fitting that you think you could use more flow through.
