Please give me some Quarantine advice for new fish.

I am looking to pick up some new fish for a new build and just wanting to get things setup and a plan established.

I am looking at picking up,

Naso Tang
Copperbanded Butterfly

I have a quarantine tank setup and ready to rock.. However here is my question.

I am planning on purchasing the fish from Live Aquaria if i cannot find them locally which i doubt i can.. ( i have heard live aquaria treats the fish top notch before sending them out?)

Here is my question,

Do i put the fish into the QT without any copper and observe them for a week or two for ich/illness?

Or

Should I instantly set the tank up with copper, and place the fish in and observe from there?

also should a fresh water dip take place before or after qt before going into my DT??

You'll get a ton of different responses. My protocol is TT in conjunction with dosing Prazi then observing for a month in a cycled QT. I only do a FW dip if I suspect flukes. I personally don't use copper...too many fish are sensitive to it.

This is what I would recommend as well.

Thank you all for the reply.. I do apologies what is "TT" and is there a thread or a how to for doing the "TT" method and Prazi?

I sometimes allow a fish to adapt and eat the best for a couple of weeks before ich eradication procedure. Treatment against ich sometimes interferes with feeding, such as with the CCB.

How have you prepared your QT tank? Are you quite sure that there will be enough nitrification bacteria to normally process all the ammonia generated?

As for as ich and velvet are concerned, observation for even a whole month does not indicate much. Ich infestation can be too light to be observed for a month and then break out in the next month.
